From its inception in 1981, the Hospice Ball has been an annual
fundraising event in the Missoula community. Originally the ball was
organized by a group of volunteers from the Western Montana
Association of Life Underwriters. As the event grew, so did the
number of attendees and administration required to host the event.
In order to accommodate those needs, the ball transformed from a
committee of dedicated community members hosting an annual
fundraising event to a sustainable nonprofit organization.
After receiving its 501(c)(3) status in June 2002, the Hospice Care
Foundation continued its efforts to diligently raise funds in
support of hospice care for the community. It has supported local
hospice organizations by providing financial assistance to help
defray the costs for those who could not afford to pay for hospice
care. The Foundation also has a goal of establishing a hospice
residence in Missoula and has been managing its resources to ensure
that this goal will be achieved.
